REP: The Tuskhogs

Tuskhogs are a remotely to the xenoungulates related group of mainly omnivorous forest-dwellers which are easily recognised by their tusk-like horizontal jaws. While preliminary evolved as tools for digging up roots, subterrestrial plants and animals, they are often used as defense weapons and display structures as well. When cornered, a tuskhog will spread its jaws and middle legs, showing bright patterns on their undersides; for attacks only the tusks will be used, the middle leg claws serve more as a protection of the animal's sides. Most tuskhogs are solitary or live in very small groups mostly formed of relatives.

Great shieldhand: A very large, social species with strong herbivorous tendencies. Their unusually formed middle hands are fused with the body wall and bear short but very broad claws that are used in intraspecies fights and provide some protection against slasher attacks.
Impaler: A group of rather small animals that use their sharp tusks to skewer their prey which consists mainly of tentaculopods and the occasional pneumonoptere.
Tuskhound:this group is very similar to typical tuskhogs in lifestyle, but differs from them by relying more on food sources above the ground.
