Description
Sawtails got their name from their bizarre hind legs they use as aid in climbing. All sawtails lead a mainly arboreal life in umbrella tree forests with some species having aquatic adaptions or the ability to glide. They are mainly carnivorous, feeding on the many smaller tree-dwellers.
Wrinkled sawtail: One of the best-adapted sawtail species with skin folds aiding in camouflage.
Smooth sawtail: A close relative to the wrinkled sawtail with extended skin between the middle and hind legs that enables it to glide.
Harvester: A rather small sawtail genus adapted to a life in harvestman tree forests. They have longer limbs, griping claws and a flattened tail for swimming.
