Description

Hivebirds are a widespread group of eusocial macropneumonopteres, albeit their social structures aren't as far evolved as those of some micropneumonoptere groups. They are mostly omnivorous, with a few carnivorous species. The female is significantly larger and heavier built, and a clumsy flier when adult. Young females however, are very endurant fliers and much slimmer than the adults. The males are slender and possess broader, shorter wings that make them more maneuverable during flight. A female can produce males through parthenogenesis, but to produce other females, it needs to mate, for which only the males of other hives are taken. A hive consists of usually one female (in some smaller species it can be several), through parthenogenesis created male workers and often a harem of foreign male workers. Multiple species employ mercenaries for some tasks, especially as soldiers. While it's the males' task to protect the hive, it's the females that fight over territories with other queens, where their longer lip teeth are used as weapons.
The decipted blue-throated hivebird is a blackbird-sized animal that lives in temperate forests in the Northern Continent and feeds mostly on tentaculopods. They have a corresponding mercenary species, used as soldiers to protect the hive.

The "mercenaries" mentioned in the text are a symbiotic group of macropneumonopteres. They will get their sheet soon, too.
